Oikos - Bergamot essential oil

Citrus bergamia.
 
Antirheumatic, antiseptic, bactericidal, digestive stimulant, diaphoretic, antifungal, hypotensive (blood pressure lowering), calming, and appetite stimulant.
 
The bergamot is a small tree, about 4.5 meters tall. It bears small round fruits that change from green to yellow as they ripen and resemble a miniature orange.
 
Bergamot originates from tropical Asia and is widely cultivated in southern Italy. The essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the nearly ripe peel.
 
Bergamot is widely used as a flavouring in food products, including Earl Grey tea.
In aromatherapy, bergamot is used for acne, boils, cold sores, eczema, psoriasis, pimples, mouth infections, flatulence, loss of appetite, cystitis, colds, fever, influenza, anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions.
